I was looking on Libby for something quick and in the horror genre to listen to on my way to work.

1. Darcy is a soft, sweet, and docile wife to a normal, if not slightly boring, account husband (Bob) who likes to collect coins
2. Bob blames the ghost of a dead childhood friend, who he claims lives inside of him, for his sadism and desire to rape and murder “snooty women”
3. Darcy finds out about Bob and in the end shoves him down their marital home stairs, breaks his neck, and then she finishes him off by suffocating him with a dish rag

🤔My Thoughts
- Brutal but satisfying ending
- Love a good revenge story
- Darcy shows that the good girl doesn’t have to always "follow" the husband
- Bob loves his wife but I think he loves her for her submissive and good girl nature. That’s why he thinks he can confess everything to her and basically guilt her into keeping his secret.
- Bob is also subtly manipulative with Darcy, like telling her that he stopped killing for “over 20 years” (Darcy knows it is 16 years and she is well aware he is too meticulous to not know this) because of their family. He also tells her how no one will believe she didn’t know who he was all these years, and how if the public found out about him that it would ruin their grown children’s lives
- I enjoyed this quite a bit, plus it was a one day read
