As of 2025 I use the CAWPILE method to rate my books. You can read more about it here: What is The CAWPILE Review System?
Overall, it is an average rating of 7 categories, each rated from 0 to 10. Note that this is for fiction books.

The average score determines the star rating that I give it on GoodReads:
#dnf: (did not finish) books that I couldn’t finish because I thought they were boring, the writing was bad, or I hated something about it so much I didn’t want to waste my time finishing it.
⭐️, 1.1 - 2.2: I finished this but I probably should have DNF’d it because I hated it.
⭐️⭐️, 2.3 - 4.5: didn’t like much due to bad writing, or themes or tropes I found I don’t like
⭐️⭐️⭐️, 4.6 - 6.9: was an okay book with flaws but was an enjoyable enough experience
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. 7.0 - 8.9: a good book that I liked most of, and would recommend to others who like the genre or themes
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️, 9 - 10: a great book that I thought had little to no flaws that I greatly enjoyed reading, would definitely recommend to others
