🧠My Quick Thoughts
🔍How I Found The Book
I’ve been seeing a lot of YouTube where people read entire series of books from their childhoods, and Goosebumps seems to be one of the big series to read. I loved the original Goosebumps and had no idea that there were several series that branched off of it. One of my favorite original Goosebumps was “Night of the Living Dummy”, about Slappy the dummy. And to my delight, there is a whole series about Slappy called Slappyworld!

Blog:
I enjoyed this short read. It brought back a lot of nostalgia for me as Night of the Living Dummy was one of my favorite Goosebumps episodes when I was a kid. I didn’t realize this series was so new so it did come to a shock when I heard modern references like Wikipedia and cellphones!
Overall I thought this was alright. Obviously reading it as an adult is different than reading it as a 12 year old. It does has one of my least favorite tropes in it, which is where adults just don’t believe their kids at all. That’s a driving force through most of the book as Slappy creates a lot of mischief and the kids get blamed for it. But man does Slappy have the confidence I wished I possessed. He says some funny little one liners like “You waited a long time for me. But I’m worth it! Hahahaha!” and I want to embody that as I go into 2025.
